To understand a place is to feel at ease. It's the people that give meaning to a place. What are the traces that people leave behind and what stories do those traces tell? For thousands of years Jerusalem and its surroundings have been the setting of many stories and events, a city and a land that hasn't lost its significance over time. I tried to understand Jerusalem and its surroundings by capturing the places and traces of people and the ambiguity of places there. The remains of a day, the traces of a strategy of war or the left overs of a dinner. Each 1 of the title represents a perspective, the one of what's west of the city, the perspective of what's east of the city and mine, the one of the outsider.
